We held a raffle on October 24, 2008. All the proceeds went to help Joan—a 44 year old woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer while 2 months pregnant in 2007. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy and then gave birth to a healthy baby girl—Elle Marie in March of 2008. She has 2 boys age 12 and 14. She has to work 1 or 2 days a week at Starbucks in order to keep her health insurance. Her husband is currently unemployed. She is still undergoing chemotherapy and is struggling to make ends meet.

The quilt was designed and pieced together by Cindy of  Murrieta California and then machine quilted by Debbie of Lake Elsinore. The fabric is from Judie Rothermel's Charlston IV collection of Civil War reproduction fabric.

The drawing was won by Pauline, here pictured beside the quilt.
